CLASSROOM STAFFING

RECP strives to maintain the following ratios throughout the day. All ratios are based on the goal of quality care and exceed Class A licensing standards. Generally, they are in accordance with NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) standards. Ratios are listed teachers: students.

1:3           Infants 6 weeks to 6 months old
1:4           Infants 6 months to 12 months old
1:5           Toddlers 12 months to 18 months
1:4/6        Toddlers 18 months to 24 months
1:6/7        Toddlers 24 months to 36 months
1:8/9        Preschoolers 3 years to 4 years
1:9/10       Preschoolers 4 to 5 years

 

STAFF TRAINING

All Staff required to have 12 hours of continuing education plus Health & Safety Training, CPR and First Aid Annually.

STAFF QUALIFICATION

All Staff and Teachers of our Rayne Early Childhood Program must meet the requirements for their positions set by the Class A License of the State of Louisiana Department of Social Services Bureau of Licensing.   Some of these requirements are as follows:

•              Each staff member must be known in the community to have a good reputation.  This means having no previous conviction of any crime of a violent or sexual nature, confirmed by a criminal records check, as well as having at least three work or personal references of good standing.

•              Each staff member must regularly pass and obtain the required personal health appraisal set by the guidelines of this licensure.

•              Staff Development is required as an ongoing annual process with the following procedures:

•              A four day supervised orientation of new staff which includes learning our programs policy and procedures, health and safety requirements, as well as job description & performance standards.

•               A teacher resource room, with internet access, is available planning.

•              Additionally, all staff are expected to earn a CDA (Child Development Associate) at program expense to maintain employment.
